When mixing grout it is easier to achieve an even consistency, if you add the grout powder to water rather than the other way round. Of course, quantities will need to be adjusted depending on the amount of tiles you have to grout. But for a standard bathroom start by putting roughly 1/2 inch of cold water into a bucket, slowly pour in the grout powder, mixing it with a square edge trowel as you pour.

If you have a whisk attachment for a drill this will make the job even easier. Mix the powder to a thick consistency, something like clotted cream. If the mix is too stiff you can always add a little water. Once you have mixed the grout you can add more water and powder if you think you have underestimated the quantity needed. For more technical advice you will usually find useful information on the bag or on the manufacturer’s website. Note that if you use hot or warm water the setting time of the product will be accelerated.

Here at Leafcutter Design we are seeing a interest in Victorian floors that hasn't been seen since the, umm, the Victorian times!?

We have people flooding in our showroom recently who are enamoured with Original Style's Victorian floor. Due to their complexity, detail, designs and functionality they are a product that customers really enjoy buying. Unlike traditional Victorian Tiles which required treatment and care, modern Victorian tiles are still made from clay but are vitrified so they are less absorbent and more durable. Using a modern sealer like Lithofin Stain Stop means that maintenance for these tiles is almost non-existent.

Our passion for these tiles has meant we have assisted many cutomers by doing bespoke designs for their spaces. I thought I'd share some of our Victorian Floor Designs with you:
