Quarry tiles are a type of unglazed tile that is known for being extremely durable, with a very natural quality. This type of tile is often used in industrial settings, but it is also very appropriate for homes as well. This quality means they are used in Pizza ovens, restaurants, factories and kitchens the world over. Their reliability and rustic feel can be perfect for any kitchen floor or work surface. Quarry tiles are made through a complicated extrusion process and fired at a temperature of over 1000° C. Clay is fed through a shredder and mixed with other material such as shale which makes the tile both very dense tile and gives it anti slip qualities. Then the process of extrusion, drying, setting and finally firing takes place.
